The Non-Spammy, Scuzzbag-Free Method For Getting More Clients

STEP #1- FOCUS ON AN OUTCOME

The biggest problem business owners make is that they try to help everybody at one time.

In other words, instead of taking one target audience and focusing on their one core problem, most businesses will try to form a message that connects with everybody.

That's the worst thing you can do because all the time and effort you spent trying to get their attention is wasted.

When you're too general, nobody hears you because you're not speaking directly to them. They don't feel “heard.”

Instead, you want to focus on one outcome.

What is the one single result that you can get for a very specific client? When you can figure that out, everything else becomes extremely easy.

Let me explain. Let's say you're a personal trainer and you have the capability to help many different types of women lose weight.

Typical marketing approach is to think that you can help all women or anyone who's interested in your services. But that's too broad.

But let's say you want to help women get their pre-baby bodies back. Now that becomes a narrower target audience that you can focus on because you can talk specifically about that subject to them and they will be interested because it's relevant to them. Make sense?

So that's really the gist of step one. Focus on getting one outcome for one type of specific client.

Now that doesn't mean you can't offer services for other types of clients but you have to separate that into different campaigns and focus on each campaign individually only speaking to that one type of client.

STEP #2: SHOW THEM HOW YOU CAN HELP THEM

We make selling so hard. Way harder than it needs to be.

But it’s actually very simple when we take our own preconceived belief systems out of it.

People will always buy something that helps them solve their problem.

Your job is simply to show them how your product or service does that.

We think that sales is a dirty word. Shameful a icky and that you have to put on a front in order to do it, but it's simply a matter of showing them how you can help them.

So all those cheesy headlines and hooks don't work. If you think about it, they don't work on you, correct?

So know that your audience is tired of seeing that. And the best thing about that is that you're going to stand out from everyone else when you show up authentically simply offering to help them solve their problem.

Having said that, I get a lot of people ask me, “ if I show them what I do, then why wouldn't they just do it themselves?”

And I get it. I understand where this question comes from because I used to ask it myself.

But here's the thing, showing them how to help them, you're only focusing on tactics, Not the fundamentals that make it work.

And the reason for that is that if there a market that wants you to take  care of everything for them, they're not really interested in those details. They want to know that you know what you're talking about and that you can help them solve their problem.

They just want to see what you do that way it will make sense to them.

And if it does make sense to them, then it's highly likely they'll move forward hiring you.

Let me give you an example of what I mean about the fundamentals. This will depend on your particular industry and skill that you offer.

But for me personally, I always show people the tactics I use to get clients-  like my funnels and templates, Etc.

And that's enough information for them don't move forward with me, but at the same time I don't explain all the underlying fundamentals that is required to complete the service.

And the reason for that is because it would simply take me 12 weeks to do so, and remember- my ideal clients just want me to do it for them or with them, not learn how to do it themselves.

But if I ever wanted to explain the fundamental side, I'd have to explain how I:

  •   Have copy writing formulas based on my years of experience and understanding of human psychology and Behavior
  • Do a ton of research into their specific target audience
  • Identify the false belief systems Their audience has to be able to understand their core problem in order to help them
  • Write in a way that is personality-driven and conversational so as to attract and compel them to take action
  • use specific templates that are purposefully arranged to take them through the Journey to  close a sale
  • Understanding where their target audience is on the “5 levels of awareness”  and so on

But since I know that my ideal clients don't want to do my job, and instead just want the finished product and the peace of mind to know that I can competently give it to them…

There's no need for me to go through all of that with them.

So the main takeaway here is that you just want to remember that people will not buy a product or service they don't understand. If they can't connect it to how it will solve their problem they're not going to buy it from you or anyone else.

STEP #3: GET IN FRONT OF THE RIGHT AUDIENCE

You can achieve the first two steps and still fail if you don't get this last step down.

If you think you're going to stick a random post on your social media or  blog and expect traffic to come flying by it or SEO to take care of it, then I encourage you to rethink your strategy.

It doesn't have to be a difficult process, it just requires you to understand it.

All you have to do is figure out where your ideal target audience hangs out.

Then you find a way to get your message in front of them.

There are several ways to do this, both free and paid.

For example, you could run paid ads and that would certainly get you in front of a targeted audience based on how you set it up.

The problem comes in that if you don't know how to effectively set your targets in the ad, you could spend a lot of money and get very little results.

If you’re just starting out in business then you could save money by exerting a little proverbial elbow grease. And that means a version of cold contacting… with a twist.

Find people who have a problem they need solved now and offer to help them for free.

So you could search social media groups, forums, etc. for anyone who needs a problem solved that you have that specific solution to then offer to help them solve it by first using the steps above.

I hope that helps you out a little. I did a video where I go into a ton more detail on this process using graphics. You can find that here.
