The adrenaline surged through my veins as my eyeballs fought to reinsert themselves back into their sockets.


In front of me was a dark Chevy pickup truck sitting underneath a red light...with my 16 foot ladder sitting in their truck bed.


It flew off the top of my truck and literally landed two inches from their rear window. Had the ladder been any longer, or me going any faster, it would have careened through the window and decapitated at least one of the three people sitting in the cab.


All because I wasn’t paying attention.
